3 years
3 years old today. That's my boy Josiah. Happy birthday buddy. What a whirwind and a joy you have been from the first painful moments to the months of struggle after keeping you fed. You are my ridiculously healthy son, my surprise of a redhead. With your father's facial features. Growing striaght up like a weed so all your pants are too short in a couple weeks. Your bumbly coordination has given way to full force speed and new agility. You love your world, your friends, what you get to see. I wonder through your eyes now. Everything is new to you and I delight again with new eyes how wonderful God's world is. I love to hear you sing. I hate hearing you cry, especially when your scared. You were a gift from God at the perfect time. We never doubted your arrival, gender, name or purpose. You are beloved, cherished and exhausting. I am older and wiser because of you but I am happier, more confident, free from fear and worry because I have you in my life. I watch you as your brain begins to learn more complicated things and I am a little overwhelmed with my continuing task of being your teacher and your guide. But we will do this together and God is your perfect parent. Me and your Papa are your friends forever and we'll always have time to stop what we're doing and ROCK OUT!

Well, well, well!! The wonders of the internet! What is going on with Katie Ward, er... new last name, new 3 year old boy!, and wonderful husband. My fiance, Kristen, was googling my name and comes across a posting on your blog from this summer when I guess you we're trying to locate me for our ten year high-school reunion (we cant be that old!). We have a lot of catching-up to do although your blog has caught me up quite a bit. I can't believe how great your artwork is looking! There's too much to sum-up in one posting but hopefully we can open up the lines of communication and in due time we can get back on the same page. I am currently working on a Masters of Architecture at the University of California, Berkeley. I am taking a studio with Hitoshi Abe and teaching an undergraduate design studio. I am getting married July 29th here in Oakland, CA and Chas Peppers will be my best-man. Prior to returning to school, I spent 5 years teaching preschool, elementary and junior high-school. My time off is spent rock-climbing, playing b-ball, and cycling... 'um, I like long walks on the beach and sunsets', just kidding. Seriously though, drop me an email and we can catch up. Best wishes to you and your family and 'unc kirk'. talk to you soon,
marc

Happy Birthday Josiah! Hey Katie. Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. I think I love getting comments even more than I loved getting mail at Covenant. It's pretty sad really. Anyway, I would love any suggestions you would have about how to make my blog a little more personalized. I'm just getting the hang of the computer again, so I feel pretty slow where html is concerned.
On a side note, Matt says to tell Joel that if anyone asked him if Joel would be a bean counter he would have laughed them out of the hinkle basement. Isn't it funny where God leads us?

Beautifully said... Josiah is a precous little boy... and blessed... for every child should know that he is loved and wanted by his parents... and that he is loved and cherished by God... and I suspect you affirm those two truths to him every day...
God bless...
